The Richmond (VA) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated, inducted six new members during a ceremony held Sunday, June 6, 2010 at Willow Oaks Country Club. Thirty-five chapter members welcomed new members Jacqueline McClenney-Wallace, Stephanie Rochon-Moten, Paula Saylor-Robinson, Doris Moseley, Marian Parker and Denise Lewis into the organization that day. A number of spouses and Links members from other chapters were also in attendance.

We are so excited to welcome these talented, energetic ladies into our chapter, said President Carolyn Lambert. Our chapter has grown and changed considerably during our nearly 60 years of existence, but each new member brings fresh insights and commitment that enhance our service to Richmond. Together we uphold the organizations commitment to both friendship and service.

Since 1952, the chapter has worked to identify local social, cultural and educational needs and develop programs to meet them. As a part of their orientation, the inductees worked together on a service project–developing train-the-trainer workshops for the Mayors Youth Academy Summer Works Initiative. Their work will help trainers introduce young people to educational and vocational opportunities, which will prepare them for a successful career.

The Richmond Chapter performs many community services including coordinating dental screenings and educational field trips for area youth. The group also extends its reach through fundraising. Since 1995, the chapter has fully endowed a scholarship at Virginia Union University that currently has more than $85,000. The organization has also used proceeds from its biennial art auction to make $10,000 contributions to worthy causes including the Central Virginia Food Bank, the Black History Museum and Cultural Arts Center of Virginia and the Richmond Public Schools Foundation.
