Please join us in congratulating Malcolm Brogdon, the grandson of 8th National President Dolly Desselle Adams. A sophomore at the University of Virginia, Malcolm has helped lead UVA’s men’s basketball team to its first ACC Tournament Championship since 1976 and to a #1 seed in the 2014 NCAA Tournament.

Emerging as a leader on and off the court, Malcolm is academically gifted as well as athletically gifted. He is a member of the Academic Honor Roll and the National Society of High School Scholars.

Link Dolly and Bishop Adams are overjoyed with pride and eagerly await their grandson’s appearance in the tournament. Malcolm and his teammates will face Coastal Carolina in the NCAA Tournament in Raleigh, N.C., on Friday, March 21 at 9:25 p.m. ET.

The best is yet to come for this shooting star. We wish him well as he waltzes into the Big Dance.

Job Shadowing Day has been rescheduled for Thursday, February 27, 2014. Richmond Public Schools Office of Career and Technical Education (CTE), with the assistance of our CTE Advisory Council and community partner, The Richmond Chapter of the Links, will sponsor our annual Job Shadowing DAY in conjunction with National Job Shadowing Day. We are excited about providing this opportunity for middle school students to be exposed to a variety of careers and professionals.

Our goal is to place twenty-seven (27) eighth grade students from each of our nine (9) middle schools.  In order to have a successful “JOB SHADOWING DAY” and find placements for all of our students, we need your help and participation. Therefore, we are requesting that you and/or your staff allow students to “shadow” you as you perform duties and responsibilities related to your position and to ask questions about training required for your job.

Students are scheduled to start arriving around 10:00 a.m. since our buses will have several stops and they will depart around 1:00 p.m.  We are asking that our supporters provide lunch for the students placed with them as part of their “networking” experience with you. Your continued participation and a positive response to assist us this year will be greatly appreciated. I know that our students will benefit educationally from a day spent at your work place.  Please email (gmacklin@richmond.k12.va.us), fax (804-780-7605), the enclosed form to us by February 24, 2014.
